My real job is the software that runs on bare silicon. Perl is a great tool for creating tools to make my real job easier.
Mostly I code in C/C++. Perl is useful for analyzing test data and automating development, unit and integration tests. Also for formatting configuration tables into C/C++ constant definitions and, with code templates, into actual C/C++ code.
I also do random personal projects in Perl, a few of which I have shared in random postings here in the monastery.
