You forgot one very important one.

It stands for She Who Must Be Obeyed.

It is interesting to note that I have never seen a version of this referring to the male partner in a male:female pairing.

      I seem to remember that as well. I also remember one of the British shows (Rumpold of the Bailey?) that shows here in the states on PBS having its main character refer to his wife that way. I started seeing it in other chat contexts as well prior to my being with PM.

      The phrase and its associated abbreviation have gotten around.

      ...yes, that is the expansion of the acronym for those who neglected to recognize its original meaning. Damn! It gets cold sometimes.
