MySQL control center may not be supported anymore but you can do a heck of a lot more with it than you can with the query browser. I was using them side by side for a while and comparing them and while the query browser is by far nicer looking you can do a lot more like editing tables and inserting data with the control center. Since I am by no means a dba I find it easiest to create the database from the mysql prompt and then build the tables and such with command center.
