An author may be associated with a module. It may even bring him some benefits. Who am I to tarnish this, or piggyback on it.

So better that their name is associated with an out-of-date or broken module, than with one that someone found useful enough to consider spending time fixing and making those fixes available.

That is the most illogical reasoning.
