[Corion]: Meh :( I should stop giving "emergency" answers in the first reply so people have to first try the proper way of solving a problem :-(

[SuicideJunkie]: That's like mentioning "Here's a bunch of carpentry tips and advice, but if all else fails, you can make a doorway with dynamite." (two seconds and a rumbling boom later) "Hey, that works great!"

Above is a quote from the chatterbox that needs no further explanation. I am posting it as a meditation so that I or other monks can refer the The Dynamite Trick in a post or in chatter, and other monks can find out the meaning. I'm posting anonymously because the credit really goes to SuicideJunkie. Also thanks for SuicideJunkie for saving the exact quote on his homenode.

      To modernize terminology, let's also replace

      • “the Swiss army chainsaw” with “the Swiss army lightsaber”;
      • the “monastery” with a “university” and monk-related labels for experience levels with labels related to contemporary academic education;
      • dragons with dinosaurs;
      • the NodeReaper's sickle with a combine harvester (I think Terry Pratchett's Reaper Man has something like this);
      • “teletypes” and “terminals” and “terminal emulators” and “consoles” with “plain text debug windows”, “carriage returns” and “line feeds” with “beginning of line control characters” and “next line control characters” respectively;
      • possibly constant “variables” with “bindings”, and “functions” in impure languages with “subprograms” or “subroutines” or “procedures”;
      • “regular expressions” with “patterns” (like perl6 does);
      • camels with SUVs in the camel code;
      • Visual Basic with Visual C# in My computer broked down after perl install.

      (This reply is a joke.)

        You consider dinosaurs to be modern?!

        Just how old are you?

        perl -E'sub Monkey::do{say$_,for@_,do{($monkey=[caller(0)]->[3])=~s{::}{ }and$monkey}}"Monkey say"->Monkey::do'

    No, we should simply use the proper term ... dot-Net.   :-D
