Dear Monks!

Recently I've been complained again of missing "watch thread" feature. I'm not along being eager about it - Watching threads.

So, the question. Is it possible to add this feature? Scenario could be like following: I mark some node to be watched and then all replies to this node are marked as watched (especially in Newest Nodes).

Thanks,

No one here is stopping you from keeping a list of node IDs and writing a Perl script that grabs XML of the lastest nodes and updates that list. There is even lots of example code quite similar to this available. And if you run into problems, many of us would certainly help you there. And once you've written it, posting the code here is likely to get you at least a few XP.

But if you are holding your breath waiting for such a feature to be added to the site for you, well then, I suggest you breathe. There are certainly many things on the list of priorities above that and even those aren't being dealt with very quickly yet. We are trying to make improvements on how quickly we can make improvements, but with noone getting paid to do it, we all just have to be rather patient.

Great! That is what I just really want as an answer! But did not know how to ask about :)

From the first reply (by tye) I have got an idea what to do and from the second (by virtualsue) - how to do it. What more would I dream for? Thank you, fellows!

And the last question - could I find somewhere the code that generates real Newest Nodes page. I guess it is a part of Everything Toolkit, isn't? I'd like to use exactly the same HTML-generation mechanism, may be it would be possible to integrate this feature in main stream (ain't I too ambitious? :)
