I would hit the web browser, check out the /. headings, and then realise I couldn't spend the next 30 minutes reading PerlMonks and had to go away and do something else. Sounds pathetic, I know, but I really missed having PerlMonks here.

PerlMonks is one of the greatest online communities I've ever seen (And I've been around "a while"), and I enjoy every day of it being up.
(Yes, its sappy, but its true).

    Hi JPaul - never seen another New Zealander here...
    Anyway, I spent the down time scouring the web for something equally as useful and fulfilling, which was not surprisingly, unacheivable.
    This site is great, and just as soon as I graduate and have some money to speak of, I too will donate. : )
