I totally agree with moritz about sending feature requests to [e-mail] -- this generates an RT ticket that allows work on the feature to be tracked, as well as making it more likely to happen quickly (if it's something that can happen quickly). %*ENV likely falls into that category.

I've gone ahead and entered an RT ticket for this feature (#55840).
