The way Perl is "wired" when you have 
&lt;code&gt;
use HR;  # using your example
&lt;/code&gt;
it checks all the directories in &lt;code&gt;@INC&lt;/code&gt; for a file named "HR.pm" and isn't going to look in "MyModule.pm" 
&lt;/p&gt;
