What makes you belive that new versions of software contain less bugs than older? It's never true unless software developers first priority is reducing technical dept. And <b>known</b> bugs are just better than <b>unknown</b>
(however, I suspect there were several perl versions where bug rate is too hight. I think between 5.8.1 and 5.8.8)
