Actually, since my choices in drink are somewhat limited
to diet I just tell a waiter or waitress "whatever
you got that's diet.."

<p>
I have over my lifetime lived in so many parts of the USA
that what I generically call a carbonated beverage is quite
random. I've been heard to say "soda", "pop" or whatever sometimes in the same
sentance! ;-)
