Anybody got any programs that will cause a wake-up event when a microphone picks up certain noises?

If it's only certain noises - then doesn't that imply that the system is already running a routine to tell the difference between a target noise & everything else?

Wouldn't this imply a need for out-of-phase hardware rather than simply a program?

Or maybe - just maybe - you could have different configurations for your system - that would power down all of the processes (like WiFi connectivity, power to the screen, power to the hard drive(s), etc.) except the audio processing and bring them all back up when you hear that target noise..

It's not quite the same - though IIRC most hardware with a 'standby' mode still uses up to 60% of the power it draws when it's 'on' - so it could technically fall into that range...
