I'm quite happy that Perl 6 hasn't arrived yet. And I'm still optimistic that Perl 6 will arrive.

I'm happy because I've been following the language design and there are things that had we rushed to implement would have been a big waste of all of that volunteer effort. Oddly enough, keeping up with the language design is also why I'm optimistic.

Have you ever heard "good, fast, cheap: pick two"? Since very little money is involved (a few grants but mostly unpaid volunteer work), we've pre-picked "cheap". That just leaves a choice between "good" and "fast". I think everyone agrees that we want something good.
