Yep, that's me (Stephen Rawls) in the picture (the one in the middle; duhh : )).  That was at a &lt;a href="http://www.usfirst.org"&gt;FIRST Robotics&lt;/a&gt; compitition.  I had a lot of pictures of robots I could have put up, but I liked that one the best : )

I love perl golfs, so here are a few tips if you want to try your hand at it:
&lt;p&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;code&gt;y///c&lt;/code&gt; is shorter than [length], but only if you are operating on &lt;code&gt;$_&lt;/code&gt;
&lt;li&gt;[pop] is shorter than [shift]         
&lt;li&gt;&lt;code&gt;/(.)/&lt;/code&gt; is shorter than &lt;code&gt;substr$_,0,1&lt;/code&gt;.  &lt;code&gt;/.{i}(.)/&lt;/code&gt; is shorter than &lt;code&gt;substr$_,i,1&lt;/code&gt;
&lt;li&gt;someone will always find a way to break your solution : )
