&lt;p&gt;At the risk of getting negative points here, just because people do not agree with me, I'll still answer your question ...&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In &lt;i&gt;my&lt;/i&gt; logigic, whichh I explained in detail in the link passed in the previous post, the only correct way to call a function is:&lt;/p&gt;

   my $result = function ($arg1, $arg2);
                        ^&lt;/code&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A function name &lt;b&gt;must&lt;/b&gt; be separated by the opening paren by whitespace. The parens are there to group the arguments, not to signal that &lt;c&gt;function&lt;/c&gt; is a function.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As perl6 has decided that "It is a function if it looks like a function" now excludes the way &lt;i&gt;I&lt;/i&gt; see as the only correct way, perl6 has definitely lost a user: me.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Some perl6 programmers tell me that I can create my own grammar(s), but that is completely besides the point. If I cannot write code the (only) way I think is logical (and beautiful), then I've lost one very very important factor in coding: FUN!&lt;/p&gt;
