&lt;p&gt;There are lot of OO modules that use &lt;c&gt;has&lt;/c&gt; to introduce attributes (ie per-instance storage), for example [mod://Moose] and the smaller cousins [mod://Moo] and [mod://Mo], and also [mod://Mojo::Base].&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;And of course that's also the syntax for attributes in Perl 6, where you'd write it as

&lt;code&gt;
has $.schema = Schema.connect('dbi:SQLite:test.db');
&lt;/code&gt;
