Server errors with Selected Best Nodes

by bv (Friar)
on Dec 06, 2009 at 15:46 UTC ( [id://811344]=monkdiscuss: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

I've been getting server errors for Selected Best Nodes every time I visit the page. Anyone know what's up with that node? Too many nodes, a database timeout, or something? 4990792a2576 was the latest one.

Oh, and I didn't notice before, but the server error page says, "We thank you, for you're patients." Unless there's some joke I'm not getting, that should be, "We thank you for your patience."

You perhaps also noticed the red text that says something to the effect of "a reprehensible party has been notified"?

"We thank you, for you're patients."

Consider it a joke... along with "stumbit" and friends.

There is a race condition in the "selected nodes" code that drives all of the "best" and "worst" lists. The "server error" will likely disappear the next time the list is updated (or the time after that).

Great. Well, if I still remember about it 159 XP later, Friar-me might decide to take a look at it. Thanks for the info.

    ...and, at Dec 08, 2009 at 14:23 GMT+5, a different error:

    Server Error (Error ID 1890028a81762)

Mine is also slightly different. I have noticed this frequently over the last few weeks, prior to that it was only very seldom.

      at Dec 08, 2009 at 19:39 GMT

      Server Error (Error ID 3549629a82037)

People, please note: the "Error ID" value is not the ID of the type of error occurring, it is a unique ID assigned to your specific incident of the error in the error log (which only the gods can view). You are only being told that there was an error; you are given no indication of what kind of error it is. It is probably the exact same error (could be a database race condition error, as tye said) every time.

I wonder if this merits a faq?

What is the sound of Windows? Is it not the sound of a wall upon which people have smashed their heads... all the way through?
