Here is our local, out-dated (pre-5.6) version:


chr - get character this number represents



chr NUMBER

chr



Returns the character represented by that NUMBER in the character set. For example, chr(65) is "A" in ASCII. For the reverse, use ord.

If NUMBER is omitted, uses $_.
