With the generation of distribution well hidden behind ExtUtils::MakeMaker, Module::Build or whatever tool one prefers to use, what is the "best" way to attack this problem? A patch to the relevant module (like MakeMaker). If they can lower my MAXLINELENGTH they can add some ustar flags.
