not the GNU/Linux of today. The problem is which GNU/linux -- yesterday or today. And tomorrow they'll be another one vying for attention. Ditto: command shell; window manager; app manager; ... The real problem is the fragmentation. With the rise and rise of 'Social' network sites: 'Computers are making people easier to use everyday'
