Two books come to mind, in that case. Both are good. Intermediate Perl (from O'Reilly), and Modern Perl (chromatic's book). I think that Intermediate Perl is probably a better choice for getting started with packages, modules, libraries, and object oriented programming. Modern Perl is great too, but probably as a next step. Dave
