life beyond PerlMonks?

by melguin (Pilgrim)
on Aug 04, 2001 at 00:49 UTC ( #102158=perlmeditation: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

Perl Monks, to me, is an almost perfect model of how members of a certain community can help each other.

Are there other sites that opperate like Perl Monks for other things like Linux, Sys Admining, etc?

  • There is no other site than PerlMonks,
  • No other language than Perl,
  • No life beyond [c|n]oding.
  • cue eerie music

Myself and a small consortium of other users (you can get more details on my home node) are currently working on a monk-like site for Java. We're making progress and will probably give an update with more information soon.

As far as other monk sites go, I've heard there's some interest of doing a C++ site and some others possibly working on a Math site. For more details you'll have to talk to the ppl actually running those, I don't quite remember who they were.

[Corion]: hippo: Yeah, I might take that one so I don't get out of London too late if it comes to that ;)
[choroba]: she called carabinieri, the train had to stop and we had to testify to them. But we didn't miss the plane in the end.
[karlgoethebier]: good morning *
[Discipulus]: miracle choroba! and unbelivalbe carabinieri understood you
[choroba]: They even sent me a letter whether I'd be willing to come to Milano to testify in the court
[choroba]: I replied with "yes" but the trial never happened
[Discipulus]: dont be so sure choroba.. 11 years is not too long for an Eatalian judgement
[choroba]: I've moved to Prague in the meantime, they can't reach me anymore :-)
[Discipulus]: Eataly: average 8years and 7months for all 3 degrees of judgement..
