Well have also cross-checked with CPAN and .pm and the version is indeed: 2.009

    Wrong. To find out what version you have installed:

    *nix:

    perl -MSocket -e 'print $Socket::VERSION'

    Windows:

    perl -MSocket -e "print $Socket::VERSION"
      Hi the result is still the same for version if you use cpan or look into the .pm file or use the above command; perl -MSocket -e 'print $Socket::VERSION' 2.009
