Hi

I have experienced problems with some users of our local PerlMongers group whose mails were silently dropped.

One can't post anymore, the mails of the other one only reach me via a second account in the daily digest!?!

Do others experience similar problems with mailman?

If mailman becomes unreliable should I better consider switching to google groups or another public service?

Please gimme feedback...

Cheers Rolf

I had a user in Salt Lake Perl Mongers who seemed unable to get messages to go through. He checked his spam filters, I checked all of the administrative configuration I could find... nothing seemed unique to his situation aside from the situation itself.

Finally he unsubscribed and re-subscribed. If I recall, that seemed to fix things.

However, you may check the administrative settings for the problematic user's email address and compare them to others who are successful. It may be that you turn up something just by looking at the various check-boxes. Another thing to consider is, do you have the "not metoo" box checked? If so, you won't see your own posts, but others will. And finally, check things like his "nomail" setting (which may get triggered if you have a few bounces).

Also, it is possible to configure a PM mailing list with things like content filtering, so you may want to look at those settings too.

I wish I could be more specific, but there are lots of configuration options under the "Administration" pages, and some of them are not real well documented. But as a first step, do drop the user from the list and ask him to re-subscribe, or to switch to using some other email account.

Does not work for me though. I cannot unsubscribe through the web interface - I follow all the steps and apparently an email is supposedly sent to me, though that never arrives in my mailbox.

That's strange because I receive lot's of email through the mailing lists I am (definitely still) subscribed to.

I know from f2f Perl Monger Meetings, that there is at least one more such kill file like victim.

ask the administrator directly to drop you from the list. He can bypass the auto-responders and verification.

I have experienced problems with some users of our local PerlMongers group whose mails were silently dropped.

All my email (except from my googlemail account) to pm.org mailing lists gets silently eaten - or stuck in PRISM or whatever.

pm.org support does not answer my email either (maybe they don't get it delivered either).

    Cheers, Sören

Sorry but its not according to the guidelines

Unless the topic pertains to the PerlMonks web site, it does not belong in this section.

The appropriate section appears to be Meditations

...not specifically programming related...For example, if you want to share or discuss opinions on hacker culture, or Perl 6 development, this is the place.

Meditations seems to be the catch-all programming-adjacent section, ie the Community section, ie not SOPW/SOPS(Seekers Of Perl Solution)? then its probably Meditations

The Anon monk is quite correct that your post does not belong in PerlMonks Discussion (clearly it does not relate to the PerlMonks website).
