I wouldn't be too eager to redirect the [mod://...] and [cpan://...] shortcuts. Authors chose their links as they intended (or so I hope). But if you look at What shortcuts can I use for linking to other information? you will find [metamod://...] and [metacpan://...] which behave just like the 'mod' and 'cpan' shortcuts, except that they point to http://metacpan.org instead of http://search.cpan.org.

Oh, indeed ó I hadnít bumped into those codes. But even so, thereís already an option in Display Settings where one can (sort of) change the behaviour of the [cpan://...] command, only for oneís own viewing pleasure. So I wonder if itís possible to make them all behave like [meta{mod,cpan}://...] commands, or feasible at all. Besides hacking around with LanXís script that is :)

Might be just me, but I really dislike the old CPAN now that thereís a nicer one ó and I bet there are some oldskool people out there who would get uneasy about people linking to MetaCPAN. So thatís why Iím thinking it might serve a good purpose as a display setting.

Well... my hack is already productive! =)

I'm afraid that not many alternatives for such personal wishes will be offered.
