perl-5.18.0 install problem

laszlot has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I am trying to install perl and I am getting the following error message:

./miniperl -Ilib cpan/Archive-Extract/pm_to_blib MAKE=ma +ke LIBPERL _A=libperl.a Making Archive::Extract (all) Making all in cpan/Archive-Extract make all PERL_CORE=1 LIBPERL_A=libperl.a !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! +!! ERROR: Cannot copy 'lib/Archive/' to '../../lib/Archive/Extr': I nvalid function argument !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! +!! at -e line 1. *** Error code 182 Stop. This is my first perl install, I apologize if the question trivial. Thank you Laszlo

      It is NonStop G06.32 suggests a change to lib/File/, forcing the block size to 4096. Can you apply that change and see whether it works?

        I haven't trawled the changes to File::Copy - maybe the NonStop specific fix never went in.

        If your company is using Perl on NonStop "Unix", maybe you have access to a test environment where you can run a monthly test build of Perl so such errors can be detected and smoked out earlier in the process?

    What is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! where did it come from?

    It kinds of looks like you inserted !!!!!!!!!... into some configure option, and well, it doesn't belong

      !!!! is NOT my insert

        yeah, that is clear after update with code tags
