Hi,
I believe Tomcat stores its own PID on startup when you call the apropriate shutdown.bat it kills the correct process, I would suggest you simply run syatem('c:\path\to\shudown.bat');
print "Good ",qw(night morning afternoon evening)[(localtime)[2]/6]," fellow monks."
