You are programmer. But your code has users. You cannot suggest to your users to install perl with perlbrew, because you'll lose most of them then.

Sure you can :) just give them a perl,, or an executable

If they want to install from source, fantastic, let them install something new, not something really really old

    1. Do you know any popular software in Perl/Python/Ruby which target audience are not software developers, and which requires latest version of interpreter or ships together with interpreter?

    2. What about case when you are developing a CPAN module? How many popular modules do you know which require 5.18 at minimum?
