A quick review of these sites in 2013:

  • use Perl; - suspended since 2010.
  • JavaJunkies - gone (discussion)
  • /. still there, but increasingly just a mouthpiece for its new recruitmentco overlords
  • LJ still going
  • AIM is amazingly enough still going.
  • Usenet lives, but under the increasingly shadowy hand of Google.
  • Less said about CowboyNeal's festering laundry pile the better.

The thrivers appear to be LJ and PerlMonks. Content is king after all - who'd have thought?
