Posting tips no longer appear after previewing SoPW posts

G'day Monks,

There's a series of tips that appear after the <textarea> where you type your post:

• Posts are HTML formatted. ...
• Read Where should I post X? ...
• ... and so on ...

I just replied to a Seekers of Perl Wisdom question. The tips were there initially but they had disappeared after hitting the [preview] button. [I retested this to confirm.]

While composing this node (in PerlMonks Discussion), they are there both before and after previewing.

Potentially just a problem with Seekers of Perl Wisdom. I haven't investigated any other sections.

Dunno if there's a relation but I had the problem some hours ago that the textarea was empty after posting a certain node such that I was not able to "update" the text.

Reloading didn't help, but I blamed the browser of my mobile and after some minutes the problem was gone.

The second is about two years old and I don't see any mention of the tips being removed after previewing.

The first is about three years old. It does mention that the tips were removed after previewing.

I'm reasonably certain the tips were there after previewing (just a week or so ago).

Regardless of whether they were (accidently?) removed recently or haven't been there for a long time, perhaps I can just request that they be reinstated (i.e. make SoPW work the same as PerlMonks Discussion currently works).

Well, look at that! I just previewed this post and the hints are no longer there. Perhaps they only disappear for responses but not for original posts. Anyway, could we have the tips for all sections irrespective of OPs or replies.

The situation has been like this for as long as I can remember, at least far back as 2005 :)

The key difference appears to be the "type" field  type=note versus type= or type=perlquestion

Its appears to have something to do with having seperate hints for seperate sections, as can be seen if you use links from RFC new question nodelet proposal (postshortcuts, newquestion, oneclickpostlinks, noscrollnewpost) ... but I guess it never quite got worked out ;)
