Hmm, so it seems that the sorting order of the C locale is different. That is weird. But gives you the chance to search in Google for sorting differences between Linux and Solaris independent of Perl. ;-) I would look at the bunch of environment variables whether there are some which have higher precedence so that the tests done so far pointed us into the wrong direction. The best for your research
