I understand the concern. However, I hear constantly about how Perl5 is very old news. I hear about it being obsolete, crufty, read-only, broken, ill-designed, ill-maintained, irrelevant, and tortuous. Then I smile, write some Perl, and collect my pay like any other day. I don't doubt Perl6 can withstand some criticism and still be found useful by folks who want to do actual work rather than proselytize.

It would be nice if the Perl-6 acolytes would stop deprecating the real Perl though.
Would not be surprized if the same was said about Perl5 acolytes back in 1993/4.
More like 2007/2008 if you go by gestation length.
