Are you restoring the old handles?

Capture::Tiny does that

I've tried it also, but with no luck. Not with select though:

open(CPOUT, ">&STDOUT");
open(STDOUT, ">>xyz.log") || die "OUTor stdOUT: $!";





# Print stuff




close(STDOUT) || die "Can't close STDOUT: $!";
open(STDOUT, ">&CPOUT") || die "Can't restore stdOUT: $!";

:) Maybe you can read the source ... I don't see anything obvious but you might have better luck
