"Then again, I’m surprised that some of my more absurd comments here get upvotes too." The reason is probably "Dog votes." People here are afraid of being punished for casting a critical downvote, thanks to "Dog votes." This used to not be the case, and as such posters were more afraid that they would be downvoted for bad posts and they put a lot more care and attention into their posts.
