If you reach level 5 or monk status. You'll be allowed to upload an image for display on your home node.
The rules are:
  • No copyrighted material
  • Nothing obscene
  • You have an 80k size limit
  • Suggested width of 350 pixels or less
Now I know some of you had already embedded images from offsite. From here on out that won't be an option however if you've already done this and would like the power to include an image on your home node /msg me within the next week and I'll make it happen.

Well, that explains where my monkey picture went.

I dunno-- I kinda like this idea. I like the idea of earning my monkey picture back by being the best monkey I can. Any plans to institute a merit badge system?

errr, that should be "by being the best monk I can" not "by being the best monkey I can." (You where or where is my "Preview" button?)

does the 80k limit count for text also?
    or just for the image?

should the home node be valid html 4.0? :-)

Very cool.... your limit is 65535 or the size of a mysql text field. HTML that doesn't break anything is good... now IMG tags are filtered out of user's home nodes....

What is the process for submitting an image? I can't find documentation, even in Super Search.

Click the edit link on your homenode. If you're level 5 or above you'll have an option to upload a home node image.

[davido]: I am not finding closing STDIN to be an adequate means of making getlogin return undef.
[Corion]: Maybe doing a double-fork (daemonizing) can make go that information away, but maybe not
[Corion]: But I think my knowledge of unix/Linux datastructures is several decades out of date, so I don't really know what information it keeps on processes
[oiskuu]: The useful bits that relate to your process can be found under /proc/self. What information are you thinking of? Tty name?
[tye]: I just daemonized and getlogin() still knew who I had been.
