The module is pure-Perl, has no non-core dependencies, its core functionality is only those 11 lines of code I showed, and it's not doing anything magical or even all too complicated. Copying things over like that should be done very rarely, but in this case I consider it a pragmatic (but obviously not optimal) solution. "Nicht schön, aber selten."
