in thread PBP in German out of print - solutions?

Old joke, but still funny. Reminds me of watching Young Frankenstein. :-)

Just another Perl hooker - My clients appreciate that I keep my code clean but my comments dirty.

The joke will even get better after Brexit, since the UK was the only member which claimed English as official language.

PS: for completeness there are indeed some transformation rules for English <-> German, (consonant shifts) but applies only for at most 30% of vocabulary.

like th <-> d and so on

German preserves a lot of old grammar like 4 cases (think Latin) that English lost after the Norman conquest. (Try to read the beowulf saga to see what I mean)

But it's more consistent with less exceptions than English and has simpler tenses.

I heard linguists saying that learning perfect German is easier than perfect English.

Unfortunately it's also mostly taught like Latin in school with endless grammar lessons.

I spend much time learning Russian grammar and can sympathize how painful this can be.

        Cheers Rolf
