Usually tar.gz (Tarball source-code distributions) are quit easy to install.
gunzip distribution.tar.gz tar -xvf distribution.tar cd distribution perl Makefile.PL make make test su make install exit

Thats it!
I don't think RPMs are the way to go but you will find them e.g with a google search for DBD::Pg rpm.

DBD::Pg would be rather difficult to install via RPM. The module actually requires the variables POSTGRES_INCLUDE and POSTGRES_LIB to be set (use 'export' for sh and 'setenv' for csh). You need to have the postgres libraries installed. Furthermore, each platform would require a separate rpm based on the hardware architecture. You might try looking on for a PostgreSQL rpm, and then building DBD::Pg yourself.

Yes, it's a little trouble, but I think you'll find that postgres is an awesome database and it's totally worth it.
