    hmmm... Only one correct choice.
It can`t be this, because there are two of them..

    Only one correct choice.
    Same as above..

    More than one correct choice.
If it was this, another one would have to be correct, let`s see

    No correct choice.
If this was the correct choice, it wouldn`t right, so also dropped(the classic dilemma (-; )

    None of the above.
If none of the above was right, then there is no reason that the more than one answer is wrong, so this also leads to complications

    All of the above.
All of the above can`t be right, because of the first two, which are wrong for themselves.

Such silly choices that I am not voting on it.
--> This is the only way to face this dilemm, i would say!
    Please correct me if I am wrong, because I am not very good at that logical stuff at all (-;

    Happy Holidays, Grexman

The fact that the 'silly' choice is valid also makes the 'more than one' choice correct.

      Ron Steinke rsteinke@w-link.net
        No, not really (-;
I read it later in another posting, but the "silly" option also is not valid, because if you vote for it, you are lieing because you say you did not vote. Therefore it is also invalid
        Ciao, Grex

Since when did votes ever get considered "correct" or "incorrect"?

    "This sentence is wrong"

This poll reminds me namely that sophism.

    Courage, the Cowardly Dog

94% of statistics are made up.

Which is proven by a statistic :-)

Hrmmm....I always thought that 99% of all statistics are made up.....Or was it 96%...ok...94% is probably close enough :)

Hrm, in dismissing it as a "sophism" you're missing out on a rich field of study. I maintain, on the contrary, that the "Liar Paradox" is as yet to receive a satisfactory treatment that is adequate for natural languages.

I love it when multiple choice questions have the choice "All of the above" below "None of the above", implying that a vote for "All" includes a vote for "None". That was the little detail that I found most clever about this poll, so I voted for "All of the above".

... Quidquid perl dictum sit, altum viditur.
Like really. Since when do polls such as this only offer "one", "none" and "all"? Should this poll not have checkboxes so that we can vote on multiple answers? If that were the case, I'd just vote for "All of the above" and "No correct choice". That's just as confusing as saying "All of the above", when the option above it is "None of the above". So "All of the above" includes "None of the above". DO they just cancel each other out, leaving us with "One correct choice, One correct choice, More than one correct choice, and No correct choice"? And if you select "All of the above" or "None of the above", does that description include the last option, "Such silly choices that I am not voting on it"? Because that option is not above those ones.... And finally, something to equate this poll to:
Which mathematical equation equals 4? A) 2 + 2 B) 2 + 2 C) 3 + 1 D) No correct choice (Mathematically impossible) E) None of the above F) All of the above (A, B, C, D, E) G) What a stupid question Analysis: 'A' is correct 'B' is correct 'C' is correct 'D' is incorrect, since 'A', 'B', 'C' are correct 'E' is incorrect, since 'A', 'B', 'C' are correct 'F' is incorrect, since 'D' and 'E' are incorrect 'G' could theoretically be correct, but it's a stupid answer to a stupid question, so we'll say it's incorrect So... 'A', 'B' and 'C' can be said to be correct. But 'A' nor 'B' can be correct because they are the same and both say there is only one answer, which is incorrect. Therefore, 'C' MUST be the correct answer!! Correct answer to this question: C Therefore, correct answer to poll: *** More than one correct choice ***

Such silly choices that I am not voting on it.
Everyone who votes for this option, (myself included) can not be telling the truth. They did indeed vote on this poll. They did not not vote on it. (Pardon the double negative).

Hmm, not that it relates in any way, but i'm reminded of this...
      • Do you think Death could possibly be a boat?
      • No, no, no . . . Death is . . . not. Death isn't. You take my meaning. Death is the ultimate negative. Not-being. You can't not-be on a boat.
      • I've frequently not been on boats.
      • No, no, no -- what you've been is not on boats.

Booooring! Of course the last choice gets the most votes, because it is the only reasonable choice. And that's why I didn't vote for it.
Re: This poll has:

The only way through this is 'No correct choice', because "There is 'No correct choice'". 'No correct choice' exists, so the previous qq'd statement is correct.

No choice
by Anonymous Monk on Jan 08, 2003 at 00:42 UTC
OK, we'll start by eliminating "No correct choice", since if that's the correct choice, it isn't.

"All of the above" would mean there's both no choice, one choice, and more than once choice.. all at the same time. This is obviously impossible.

If "None of the above" is the correct choice, then either there's one correct choice or more than one, which means that some of the above would be true.

"Such silly choices that I'm not voting on it".. you're voting to say that you will not vote on it? Just as wrong as the others.

That leaves the top three ones.

Now, if the top one is true, then there is only one choice, which must be the top one. However the second one is then also true, and that's a contradiction.

That leaves one choice.. which says that there is more than one choice, which isn't so.

That leaves no correct choices.. which would mean the fourth choice is correct, which isn't so.

Hmm.. conclusion: the given problem is self-contradictory.

(damn, I must be bored to be typing this)

Hmm, one point which is niggling me : the "Such silly choices that I am not voting on it" option that most people seem to be choosing - isn't the fact you're voting for it against the statement that you're not voting? :)
