lisaw has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I'm trying to convert a script, located in my scratchpad, to so that I can accomplish my goal stated in Node-263147. I have attempted to convert it but am getting the dreaded error 500. Anyone have any suggestions? Please keep in mind, I'm still learning :) Thanks, lisaw

2003-06-05 edit ybiC: retitle from "Re Node 263147", linkify "Node-263147" text in body/content.

Please make sure your question makes sense by itself, people are a lot less likely to be motivated to help it they have to go to many other places in order to help. I think a lot of the people here are more than willing to help on most things Perl-related, but only if you make it easy for us to help you.

Your scratchpad is a great place to store code for when people need to give it a quick look due to a Chatterbox conversation, but when the question is actually posted the code should be included. As well as making it easier to answer it means the node will still have value long after your scratchpad has been changed.

I'd recommend you post the actual code you have and the goal you're trying to achieve into this thread, this way we'll be able to see them both easily and may be able to help.

Need some details - copy and paste in the error exactly as it appears. Also it would help to see your script - if it's not too big paste that in as well. If it's in Node 263147, then figure out how to create a link to that node - I don't know how to do that off-the-top-of-my-head ;-)

error 500 could be that you're not sending header info. do you print header before anything else?
