Hang out here....lots of folks have already gone before you There's How did you learn Perl? and Learning Perl (re: Your first Perl Book)
plus many, many more examples you could find by searching...just dive in and read, read, read (supersearch is your friend) and then find something you want to do and start writing some code...make mistakes....ask questions...and most of all, enjoy! Oh and of course....I would be remiss if I didn't suggest you check out merlyn's articles ;-)
