300,000 nodes (just for fun)

Hi all!

Continuing in the spirit of 200,000 nodes last year, I wish to invite you to guess at which date/time the 300,000th node will be posted. Guesses in GMT please, either in this node, or by sending im2 a /msg containing guess 300_000 <date_time> - where <date_time> contains something parsable by Time::ParseDate. Your guesses will be added to the list on im2s homenode. (Should your guess be parsed incorrectly, please send me a /msg, and I'll check the logs and correct as necessary.. )

The poll will be closed when we reach the 298,500th node, to stop people guessing at the last second or two. Actual date/time of the 300,000th node will be (hopefully :) - shown by the node itself, and/or im2s logs.

The winner will be getting a Perlmonks Thong .. so don't hestitate, guess today!

C.

    PS:
    1. By some strange coincidence the 200,000th node was posted almost exactly a year ago..
    2. parsedate might even DWIM if you give it a Timezone, I'm using: parsedate($guess, PREFERFUTURE => 1, FUZZY => 1, GMT => 1); to parse, which should assume GMT unless a TZ is provided, guesses will be posted in GMT.

The 300,000th node will be posted a few minutes after I finish this automatic perlmonks posting program I'm hacking together with WWW::Mechanize. Let's say, shortly after lunch?

Umm... uhh.. just for my information... is that thong new? I certainly don't want to give my wife a used thong. She doesn't love perl *that* much;)

The 300,000th node has been posted, so it looks like the competition is over!

According to PerlMonks, it was posted at "Oct 17, 2003 at 13:14 GMT", which, unless my calculations are incorrect, makes bassplayer the winner!

Congratulations! Contact me for the prize..

(And yes, of course a new one.. :)

It's an honor just to be nominated. I'd like to thank the academy, my agent, strict, warnings, taint-mode, Larry Wall, and all of the monks who help me be here today -- you know who you are!

bassplayer holds the thong in the air and waves to the crowd.
