There are alot of talented perl programmers on this web site,
and alot of entry level and "junior" programmers as well.
I was wondering what everyones thoughts on having
a "jobs" section of the site? As well as have any of you "gods" thought about this as well?
To reiterate points that have already been made against a Jobs section on Perlmonks - I wouldn't want such a section, as I read and follow Perlmonks at work from time to time - and while I'm a contractor, I wouldn't want my employers to think that I'm browsing for better offers on their time.
On the other side, if there is money to be made for Perlmonks from such offers, I would think that maybe banning job offers into a section I could turn off from my preferences (at least while I'm at work somewhere) would be cool - but on the other side, I question the value of such "hot job offers" that get spammed all over the place. If somebody takes the time to register and even maybe become a (hopefully good) name here, that gets my respect, but Anonymous Monks posting unformatted blurbs as job offers ...
Ok Iam sorry for posting a node that is just bringing up a topic
that has allready been discussed. Had I done searching to see
if a node on this very subject existed then I would have not written
it. But I will say this, sometimes (the sick and twisted person Iam) I
like to post things in forums (PM discussion is a forum in a sence) that
may not go along with my views, but I feel that the topic would bring
alot of feedback and generate some good discussion. So all in all if
this topic not been brought up all ready I think this node would be a good post
but as it is right now it is nothing more than fodder :)
