I was born with a plastic spoon in my mouth
The north side of my town faced east, and the east was facing south
And now you dare to look me in the eye
Those crocodile tears are what you cry
It's a genuine problem, you won't try
To work it out at all you just pass it by, pass it by
(this has been your irrelevant "The Who" lyric insertion of the day....carry on now...)
Strictly Speaking Feb 14 is the Catholic Church Feast day of St Valentine of Rome who was put in prison and died there for performing marrage rituals for solders in the Roman Legons (Against the order of the emperor who felt single men fought better).
It was promoted by the Catholic Church as a clean wholesome subsitute for the Veneralia, a Feast to Venus, which got quite kinky, Or was it the Roman fertility goddess Juno's Feast day, I beleive it is a debated topic.
i agree that there should deffinitly be an option for getting a girl, as most people in here need that one...but me for one, i sorta have a girl..heh, i gave her a burned cd and visited her at her work even though she hates this day...odd situation, i(the guy) like this holiday, where as my girl hates it, oh well, life is strange...
...I forgot that love isn't about girls and boys anyway (or about boys and boys).
It's about being related in the spirit. It's about being connected in a way that language can only partially describe.
If you've ever felt that, then you know what I mean. And sometimes observing a ritual can remind us of the magnitude of what we've created in that relatedness. It can jar us into becoming present to our accomplishment.
-- Or, we can just buy some roses out of guilt and declare it all to be a sham.
But get that there is genuinely something to be gained by embracing the sentiment and expressing it fully. And as one of the greatest philosophers of the last century observed, "If you can't be with the one you love, honey love the one you're with!"
...All the world looks like -well- all the world,
when your hammer is Perl. ---v
They decided to schedule an upgrade of our accounting system for this weekend. I thought my part of it was going to be about a 4 hour job, but I ended up working until 9 p.m. When I got home, I was still answering work-related calls until around 11:30.
Fortunately for me, my wife agreed to "reschedule" Valentine's Day for next weekend, which increases our chances of getting into a nice restaurant (and gives me another week to shop for something good).
Well, my boyfriend spent Valentine's day at the bar with his single friends and then we spent the next day together. We both agreed it was fine. Celebrating love the day after the commercial holiday is fun :).
i forgot to do something impractical, was too busy doing something *completely* practical - buying a house. not done yet but close to it, any my wife is very grateful. she has this idea that owning a house is better than a box of chocolates and some overpriced flowers.
well, i guess this is officially the most expensive gift i've ever gotten her, even if it is for both of us :-)
