Are you sure there isn't something else going on? When I use your sample content it still works:
my $content = q|
<html>
<head>
</head>
<body>
<DIV>Div number 12</DIV>
<HTML>
<HEAD>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
<p>You have an error blah blah blah</p>
</BODY>
</HTML>
<DIV>Div number 13</DIV>
</body>
</html>
|;
my $tree = HTML::TreeBuilder::XPath->new;
$tree->parse_content( $content );
my @divs = $tree->findnodes( '/html/body/div' );
for my $div (@divs) {
print $div->as_HTML . "\n";
}
Output:
<div>Div number 12</div>
<div>Div number 13</div>

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
