Fine -- then allow it for top level questions, but not for follow-ups.
Then you have the low barrier for entry, but slow down the use of the anon feature for trolling and stirring up problems. After all, free email accounts are not that difficult to come by and really, even the idea that anon is needed for initial questions seems very tenuous. People use anon more often for posting "no-responsibility" posts for putting out ridiculous ideas and more often I've seen it used to lower the quality of discussion or to derail it. It's primarily a trolling feature on a tech-site. What other tech sites support anonymous comments OR initial submissions? At the very least, it is unprofessional in a technical setting -- this isn't a personal-intimacy site or a site providing confidential, counseling.
