It’s funny because “trust but verify” is one of the most profoundly stupid things anyone has ever said; at least since, say, “Let them eat cake.” The entire and only point—the very definition—of trust is that it requires no verification. Verifying means you did not trust. The Orwellian twists of language we endure are one thing. That some eMbr@Ce®ª¡™ them—nay, glom onto them—is something else, all together. IT’S SOMETHING ELSE!
