Today marks the completion of my first year as a member of this hallowed place....

First I would like to thank everyone here for thier input, I have found answers and wisdom here, and it has made my job easier and fun.

Though there has been the occasional gripe about newbies (Newbies, trying to help, and where to draw the line?), I have found the singal to noise ratio here, constantly better than some other places.

On use.Perl I recently said that I felt sorry for clueless people struggling to learn Perl, and making a mess of it. The only comment I got back was somewhat cynical, and while I understand it, I think that letting people use Perl badly on serious servers, does damage to the whole reputation of Perl, as MSA's formmail may have already done.

So while the odd question here gets the typical "RTFM" answer, the fact that people here do try to answer badly phrased questions, with intelligent answers is a commendable thing.

All I have to do now is get my employer to contribute to PerlMonks - as they have benefitted financially more than I have from my association here!
