The discrepancy between what I think of as quality, and what perlmonks votes as reputation used to bother me more than it does now. Perhaps it helps that The nature of work is no longer my "best" node. And honestly, the style of that joke is more "me" than my attempts at more serious content...

<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
