That would probably be because the PEP people read Perlmonks and are either a) replying to you here, or b) not wanting to get involved in an unproductive flamewar with you when it's clear you just want to rant.
I sadly fall into the category of a), but am now retreating to b).

Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
